My Story
On 4/23/24, my best friend and sister Sarah Haynes passed away. She fought an intense and swift (4 months from diagnosis to her passing) battle with stage 4, triple negative breast cancer. She had a supportive team working with her during her chemotherapy journey and she was always ready to do exactly what her oncologist recommended in order to fight for her life. She fought to the very end for the sake of her 1 year old daughter and her 3 year old son and she makes me so proud to call her my sister because of how hard she fought. She was also just so massively cool and kind and so wonderful to be around.
I saw first hand how important breast cancer awareness and research was for her journey. It continues to be so important for my own journey, my family, and my friends. I am so inspired by my sweet friend, Katie (aka The Boobless Baker, Susan G. Komen ambassador) and all of the work that she has been doing to bring awareness to the battle that so many face with breast cancer. I am especially impacted by the increasing rate of young people who are diagnosed with breast cancer (Katie just turned 30, my sister passed away at 34). It is important to me that we do everything we can to make sure that these women (and men too) have a fighting chance!
This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by making your donation today?
