Family of Fighters
Cancer sucks. As a pediatric oncology nurse for the last 10 years, I have had the privilege of taking care of the strongest kids with the best families, and I continue to be amazed with the incredible strength and courage that is put forth by these fighters and their loved ones.
When cancer impacts your family on top of your career, it takes on an entirely different burden. In the past few years, I have witnessed people in my life that I love more than anything, face cancer head on with months of chemo, daily radiation, multiple surgeries, and devastating complications from their treatments. October is particularly important to me, as it breast cancer awareness month which has had a personal impact on me and my family’s life.
On October 26th I will be walking in the “More Than Pink Walk” for my family members, friends, and strangers alike who have been faced with or are still impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis. If you are willing and able, please consider donating to my walk, and thank you to those who continue to fight and support; you make a difference every day #FamilyofFighters
