This is personal
When I started working for what was then Komen Massachusetts nearly a decade ago, my life had already been touched by breast cancer. My paternal grandmother lost her life to breast cancer, and my mother in law and many friends had been treated. Since then, my younger sister Katrin was diagnosed and had a double mastectomy (if you are facing treatment, she has created an excellent workbook available on Amazon!). Happily, she is doing great today.
Maybe the biggest reason I continue to fundraise for Komen is that it has supported crucial research, including the TailorX study which established that Katrin and other women with certain early-stage cancers do not benefit from chemo.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let's create a world where my daughter doesn't have to fear hearing the words "you have breast cancer."
Will you please join me in this fight by making your donation today?
