Hi everyone, this is Leslie, and I walk for my mother (pictured above). Breast cancer has touched our lives in profound ways, bringing with it fear, uncertainty, and the heartache of feeling powerless. As her caregiver, I walk for her strength, her courage, and her spirit.

When you meet my mom, I ask that you don’t look at her with pity or sadness. That’s not what she wants. What she truly desires is love, connection, and to not be defined by her illness. My mom chooses to live with joy, hope, and gratitude, savoring each day as it comes.

Twelve years ago, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she bravely fought and overcame it. But two years ago, we learned that the cancer had metastasized. While it’s no longer something that can be cured, we are managing it thanks to breakthroughs in research and medications made possible by organizations like this one.

This is why I walk—not just for my mother but for everyone affected by breast cancer. With your support, we can continue to fund research and discover treatments that will give more people the chance to live full, meaningful lives.
