Not the breast time of my life but we got through it!
I’ll never forget February 6th, 2024. I was anxiously awaiting the results of my mammogram, which quickly led to an ultrasound and then three biopsies. The diagnosis? Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. It was a term I had never heard before, and when I asked what it meant, the silence on the other end of the phone felt deafening. It felt like a bomb had gone off in my soul. I realized I was one of the one in eight women diagnosed with cancer.
As I processed the news, I couldn’t help but think about what this meant for my future and for my family and friends. Thankfully, I caught it early, and the doctors assured me it was completely treatable. With the unwavering support of my family, friends, and a loving community, we navigated this journey together. It wasn’t easy, but I embraced the idea that when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade!
I discovered a strength within myself that I didn’t know I had, and I was never alone in this fight. I am forever grateful to EVERYONE who supported us in any way—they made all the difference and contributed to my healing.
I’m proud to represent my fellow pink warriors and everyone affected by cancer by joining the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I’m dedicated to Komen's mission to end breast cancer, and I need your support.
