My Story
In February 2020, just as the world began to grapple with the pandemic, I received a life-changing diagnosis: Triple Negative Breast Cancer, a rare and aggressive form of the disease. I was only 38 years old, and the odds were stacked against me—at Stage 3C, my chance of survival was under 40%.
For six long months, I fought to be heard. I repeatedly pushed for tests and biopsies, only to be met with dismissal. “You’re too young to have breast cancer,” they said. But my instincts told me otherwise, and when the doctors finally listened, I learned the devastating truth. I had to start chemotherapy immediately if I had any hope of survival.
The journey was grueling. I endured dose-dense chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and 27 rounds of radiation. I faced a 68-day battle with a UTI, experienced the heartbreaking effects of oral chemotherapy that poisoned my heart muscle, and was shockingly told to call back “when it came back.” Yet, against all odds, I’m still here today.
Reaching the four-year mark as a survivor is monumental in the world of Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I’m committed to spreading hope and empowering women to advocate for their health. This year, I joined the Susan G. Komen community and registered for the MORE THAN PINK Walk, standing firm in Komen's mission to end breast cancer forever.
