My Story
This year, like so many others, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Like many, I follow the guidelines - regular exercise, no smoking, a healthy diet, maintaning a healthy weight, no known family history... My only indicator was dense breast tissue and cysts. I felt no lump - it was my annual mammogram / ultrasound that found my cancer. A small change that raised their concerned and a scheduled biopsy. I was in disbelief when it came back positive.
So this year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. There is so much to be done in this fight against breast cancer (and women's health issues in general.) And raising money for research and awareness is just one step towards winning this battle.
I'll be walking not only for me, but for a dear colleague and 3 other friends - all of us diagnosed with breast cancer around the same time. All of us still battling it at different stages.
