Susan G Komen More Than Pink Walk
This year, will be our 4th year walking in memory of my mother, Lois Solomon, but our 15th year walking to raise money for Susan G. Komen. Ever since my Morher’s diagnosis of Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer in 2010, Susan G. Komen became an important part of her cancer journey. In addition to raising over a billion dollars for breast cancer research, susan g Komen provided my mother with a place of support and comfort. It gave her a space where she wasn’t just a cancer patient, but a person who could make a difference. As an active volunteer in Komen, my mother took pride in knowing that the work she was doing was having an impact. She made a PSA for Komen, educating people about the importance of getting a breast ultrasound in addition to a mammogram. She also served as the ambassador at one on the many Susan Komen Races for the Cure she attended. My mom eben got her 15 minutes of fame when she was awarded the Avis spirit award by Joe Girardi at Yankee stadium.
So, in loving memory of my mother, Lois Solomon, please consider donating to Komen. We all know someone that has been impacted by this horrible illness. Let’s hope with continued fundraising and advances in research and medicine we will someday be able to eradicate this disease. While the walk is this Sunday, donations can be made until November 2, 2024 Thank you so much!
