Breast Cancer Survivor & Thriver!
In July of 2022, I was a vibrant, active, healthy 32 year old professional woman. I had no immediate history of breast cancer in my family. I had no health concerns whatsoever. I was a passionate yoga practitioner & teacher. As such, I was very in tune with my body, & made loving it a priority. I got out of the shower one day during this time to continue my diligent skin care routine by applying body lotion. Monthly self breast exams were also a part of my usual routine, but on this particular day, much to my surprise, my body lotion application led to the discovery of a very odd lump I had never felt before in my left breast. That day kick started the most grueling, excruciatingly painful time of my life.
By December 2022, I had officially been diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 2a, Grade 3; ER/PR+, HER2-, BRCA 1&2 (-). In one singular moment, my life, my health, my vibrance, and everything I pictured it would become seemed to shatter right before my eyes. Three days after Christmas 2022, I received my first of four rounds of aggressive chemotherapy. In April 2023, I underwent surgery to have “Louise” removed once and for all. And from June to July 2023, I underwent 20 rounds of radiation therapy.
Today, I’m alive, forever grateful for each breath I take, and passionate about raising awareness and hopefully ending another vibrant young woman’s fight against an unexpected, life-altering breast cancer diagnosis. I beat my own battle, but this war in women’s health has not yet been won.
This year, my amazing team of clinical pharmacists has rallied together to join this fight by my side. We have joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk in Nashville, TN. I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
