My Story
17 years ago I was first diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. Three years later a routine mammogram found a suspicious spot, which lead to my 2nd diagnosis. A second primary occurrence, ie a different form of breast cancer. I had a second mastectomy and reconstructive surgery as well as a total hysterectomy. The treatment plan was for 10 years. 2 years after going off the medicine my liver enzymes were slightly elevated. An ultrasound of my liver showed tumors. They turned out to be metastatic breast cancer. So for the last 1 1/2 years I have been under treatment. For the first year the tumors were steadily decreasing then they figured out the medication and started increasing. A change in treatment plan has started the shrinking again. So we are just taking it one day at a time.
