As a former board member of Susan G. Komen and the event  chair of the More Than Pink Walk in Tampa, I am deeply committed to the fight against breast cancer.

This cause is not just a mission; it's personal. I walk in honor of my mother-in-law, a resilient survivor, and in loving memory of my dear friend, who we lost too soon. With a family history marked by this disease, and recognizing the disproportionately severe impact it has on Black women, I am driven to make a change.

Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women and is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in the U.S. Alarmingly, the mortality rate for Black women diagnosed with breast cancer is 42% higher than their white counterparts. This disparity grows each year, making it clear that much work remains to be done.
