Hit My Goal

Hello world, I am still here!

Hello everyone!  My story actually starts with an ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2004.  Fear doesn’t begin to describe the feeling I had going through the diagnosis and treatment of losing diseased reproductive and estrogen rich organs, but I was able to beat the odds, and survived.  However, in 2010, I found a lump on my right breast.  That sickly panicked feeling returned, one I had hoped I would never feel again.  Imaging confirmed what I already knew deep inside me.  That lump was malignant, and I was again in the fight for my life!  It was not a spread of ovarian cancer, but something new.  Knowing that the ovarian cancer  remained in my past, was somewhat comforting, but this was going to be a knock down drag out fight, as the lump had spread its insidious tentacles beyond my breast and into my lymph system.  Cancer almost appears sadistically sentient, as it takes advantage of the body’s own communication mechanisms to spread - in this case to my lymph system.  Several surgeries, rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments left me alive, but certainly changed me emotionally and physically.  Some of the chemo wiped out my immune system so dramatically, a blood test couldn’t find any white blood cells at all, which made me deathly ill.  Another type of chemo caused such an allergic reaction that I blistered all over my body, and my tongue split down the middle.  Scar tissue makes muscles stiff, and sometimes hard to move.  I put my faith in the healing power of exercise.  It worked to put me back on track to being someone who could again beat back the fear, make my body strong again and truly LIVE.
This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by making your donation today?
