Thirteen Years Ago and Why I am Walking in September Again!
I did the same thing, 13 years ago with a team of 8 wonderful women. Together, we trained and raised money for this wonderful cause. At that time, breast cancer had not crept into the lives of those I love except my grandmother, Betty Lofstrom. Thirteen years later, I am walking for many loved ones who have battled and won, have battled and lost, or are now battling.
The statistics when I walked in 2011 were 1 in 8 women. THIS STATISTIC STILL HAS NOT CHANGED 1 IN 8 WOMEN. How can this be?
Breast Cancer Survivors I will be walking for...
Betty Lofstrom, my grandmother
Gail Wissmar, my mother
Maggie Boehmer, my mom's best friend and whom I consider my aunt
Teresa Robertson, 3-day walk teammate and dear friend
Annalise Nye, dear friend
My heart and soul will also be walking for...
Rosemarie Cross, dear friend, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2022
&
Laura Brou, dear friend, and 3-day walk teammate, is battling breast cancer NOW.
