Boobies and the Beast

Our Story

Hello and welcome to the Boobies and the Beast page!

My name is Stephanie Miles, in 2012 I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 29. Pretty shocking, a lot of my physicians were surprised at my age and my diagonsis....to be honest anytime I have to share that part of my medical history I typically get a "oh you were so young." But no worries, my story isn't a sad one it is a happy one.

Sometimes in life you have a storm and you look for the light at the end of the tunnel for hope. In 2012, with the support of my family, I was able to make it to my appointments and surgeries. My parents came down to help out when I couldn't drive and was recovering. They took me to school to make my classes and all my appointments. Then when they had to return to work, my parents flew in my aunt from Korea to help out around the house as I continued through chemotherapy.

My physicians were all so informative and ensured I understood everything and they were always available for any questions I had.

Well, through this storm, I got a closer relationship with my family and made friends with my physicians (whom I am still friends with to this day).

During my reconstruction, my surgeon had moved to Atlanta, and I wanted to have the same physician finish my reconstruction so I moved to Atlanta and who would thunk....I found love.

I met a handsome stranger and had just starting dating and I had my big reconstruction surgery and needed an emergency contact. He agreed and was super supportive during my recovery....now we are married and still rocking strong in support of the Komen walks, as a reminder that even in the darkest of storms we can find light.

I support research on breast cancer, because the more we know the more lives we can save. So join Boobies and the Beast to walk for a cure!

As a member of this team, we are each playing a part in helping Susan G. Komen® in their ONE mission to end breast cancer forever.

The money raised will fund research to discover more effective treatments, as well as vital patient support to help connect people with things like breast cancer screenings, diagnostics, treatment assistance and so much more.

We're stronger together.  United as ONE, we can support those who need help today, while fearlessly searching for tomorrow's cures.
