Prior to this fundraiser I hadn't shared my diagnosis publicly.  Here is my story- there is an extensive history of cancer in my family.  For this reason,  I have regularly had every test under the sun, mammograms yearly,  blood tests,  elective removal of high risk tissues,  two genetic tests (that showed no genetic predisposition)etc. So when I was struggling with breathing issues early this year,  I expected to find a bronchitis or even a bloodclot. What was discovered was advanced metastatic breat cancer that had spread to my liver and bones.  

The past several months have been a blur of tests, treatments and wrapping my brain around my new normal.  What has kept me going and strong is hope.  Hope that treatments will afford me more time with my loved ones.  Hope that my remaining time is meaningful and intentional.  Hope for a cure that,  even if it isn't realized in my lifetime,  will provide for those that I love so dearly.  I have hope.
