Bizzy Smith is running an amazing race, most of it not shown on television. Firefighter and mother of three, Smith and her best friend and fellow firefighter mom, Sunny Pulver,finished seventh of 13 teams in the most recent season of CBS’ The Amazing Race. But her biggest victory is beating breast cancer, discovered in her pre-race physical. Her extended diagnostic journey took as much — if not more — effort and determination than her TV race. On medical leave from the New Berlin Fire Department, but still a Waukesha County Technical College Fire/EMS Adjunct Instructor, Smith is set to chair Milwaukee’s 2024 Susan G. Komen's More Than Pink Walk and is helping craft legislation to benefit others with the disease. After reconstructive surgery now set for October 2024 she hopes to return to firefighting — and an all-star edition of The Amazing Race!
