My story began at the beginning of Covid.  It turned out to be one of the most strengthening, positive and amazing experiences of my life.  I was surrounded by friends and family everyday who checked on me and the feeling of love was powerful.  The care I received from my team of physicians at Hillcrest who saved my life was incredible from day one to today. I won the golden ticket with that team! I can never thank those that surrounded me and still do.  I am cancer free as of today and participated in the triple negative breast cancer trial at the Cleveland Clinic and received three vaccines that I know will save others in the future. Stay strong my friends and keep up the fight!! We will and can beat this together!! I love you all always and forever!  And to my cancer free buddies that helped me cope with the journey..you know who you are..you are my hero’s ..and Nichole my team captain…I love you beyond words and you too are one of my greatest hero’s. My family..Alan, Jenna and AJ. …you are my heart and my strength..thank you all for getting me to today..a life filled love and pure joy everyday <3

Breast cancer has touched the lives of so many. Everyone knows someone…. With zero family history I never thought in a million years I would be directly affected. Not only once but twice. All before I turned 50! Going through a mastectomy, reconstruction, another big surgery, chemo and now radiation changes you forever. My journey came in 2 separate chapters about 5 years apart. Both giving me new perspectives on life. This journey has been physically, emotionally and mentally difficult but it also brought so many positives with it. I have seen how truly amazing people are. I have had people who are super close and those who I haven’t talked to in years step up and help me and my kids through all of this in so many different ways! I had the best care team ever!! They have inspired me to be a better nurse!! I can’t say enough about them.

I can see the sunshine through this horrific storm. I am walking for several reasons. One is because I want to support every other person who has gone through this. I want to give back! Life is hard. It throws many curveballs. You don’t know how strong you are until you have no choice! I am walking for my kids.. my #1 purpose in life. I am also walking because through all of this I was able to meet someone who has shown me that it is all going to be ok. Sherie Steinberger has been such an amazing to inspiration me. She shared her experiences, thoughts, tips, endless words of encouragement and her love with me and for that I will be forever grateful. She embodies true strength, resilience and grace which has had such an impact on me!
