Team Lisa

Our Story

We are saddened to learn that our friend Lisa Gray passed away on June 14 after a heart attack. Lisa was a breast cancer survivor for 24 years and a staunch supporter of Susan G. Komen. She served on the survivor committee for the Race for the Cure and the MORE THAN PINK Walk in D.C. for many years and was named 2015 Survivor of the Year at the Washington D.C. Race for the Cure. Last year her husband Barry was named Co-Survivor of the Year for the Komen DMV Tri-State MORE THAN PINK Walk.

She was an avid volunteer and fundraiser, never letting any health problems slow her down. She also did anything she was asked, from attending Pink Days at colleges, reviewing grant proposals to speaking at local events to securing corporate sponsors for the Walk! She had developed leukemia but fortunately got some good new meds and pressed on. She was a pioneer for Gleevic which has helped so many.

In these times when there is so much darkness and pessimism, Lisa always shone through all of it..her commitment and passion for fighting breast cancer (both personally and for others), her love of baking, good books and beautiful gardens all help make this world a better place and she will be missed.

Our thoughts are with Barry and her family and friends.

With love,
