My Story, Everyone's Story

You know my story, 22 years out from my cancer diagnosis and cancer free. This year I’m especially motivated by a friend who battled and beat breast cancer, was subsequently diagnosed with leukemia (related to her previous treatment?), fought that for a decade, dealt with numerous medical issues over the years and recently succumbed to a heart attack in late June. I believe her heart issues were a result of the years of treatment she endured for both cancers; one of the breast cancer drugs has known cardiac risks. I mean, how much can one body take?
Lisa was a good friend and fierce cancer warrior dedicated to the cancer cause. I will miss her.
Funds raised help support breakthrough research towards breast cancer which can lead to breakthroughs in other cancers. Komen also provides assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support.
