In early April of 2024, I found a lump about the size of a large grape in my left breast. After several weeks of doctor’s appointments and tests, on May 8, 2024, I was officially diagnosed with stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.
On June 25th, I had a lumpectomy to remove the mass, and reconstruction surgery to “even me out”. A couple weeks later I got a phone call that they got all the cancer out and my lymph nodes were clear!!! Praise the Lord! 🙌🏼 They sent the tumor to my oncologist to do some further testing to determine the best treatment plan.
I was feeling SO positive that I would only have to do radiation and then life would resume and we’d all get to continue with life as we knew it. But, I was dead wrong. 🥺
On July 24th, 2024, I found out that I would need 16 rounds of chemo, due to the fact that my Oncotype score was 35 (anything over 25 requires chemo) which means my chances of my cancer returning within 9 years was 25%. To lessen the chances of it returning, chemo was necessary. By completing my chemo and then 6 weeks of daily radiation, I can cut my chances of it returning to less than 10%! 🙏🏼
So here we are kicking cancer’s ass one treatment at a time - because my family needs me. 🩷💪🏼 #MiraclesForMolly
