My Story
In August 2023, life threw an unexpected curveball. I found a lump in my breast, which, upon further examination, turned out to be two cancerous lumps. After many appointments and scans, a cancerous lump was also found in my lung. It was a devastating period, especially with two young children relying on me.
The news was overwhelming, bringing with it a storm of emotions—fear, uncertainty, and concern for the future. However, there was a glimmer of hope; both cancers were treatable with surgery. By 2024, I had undergone the necessary procedures and emerged cancer-free. The experience was transformative, instilling a deep appreciation for the fragility and value of life.
This journey wasn't just about facing a life-threatening illness; it was a profound awakening. It made me realize the importance of embracing every moment and not taking anything for granted.
Throughout this challenging time, the support of my loved ones was invaluable. Their strength and encouragement were my anchors, helping me navigate the turbulent waters of treatment and recovery. It was a period of introspection and reevaluation, where I learned to let go of the trivial and focus on the essential.
As I move forward, the experience of facing cancer has reshaped my perspective. It has become a reminder to cherish the present, pursue joy, and cultivate gratitude. Life, after all, is unpredictable, and the only certainty is the present moment. This chapter has been a testament to resilience, the power of hope, and the importance of living with intention.
Inspired by this new outlook, I decided to take action beyond my personal journey. This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by walking wherever you may be on October 26th?
