Alicia Stopyra
In 2019 Alicia, my beautiful wife, best friend and mother of my two amazing boys was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. At the age of 48, Alicia fought like no other person could. After recovering from her surgeries she would attend her chemo sessions and immediately go to my oldest son’s football games. Days later she was back in the gym working out and running 10 miles a week as she had done since she was 17 years old. She was determined to beat this disease with everything she had for her two boys, never missing a football, baseball or hockey game. Her will to see her children grow allowed her to fight and continue to be the greatest mother and friend anyone could have asked. Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving remained unchanged. Her smile radiated a room when she entered and never did she want or ask for any attention. Every day Alicia would make her way to work to be “normal” and to not talk about her illness “because if I do I will know I am sick”, which she did until 9 days before she passed away. When the cancer came back she fought even harder and harder until September 22, 2022 when she lost her courageous fight. She was my angel on earth that taught me and anyone that met her that kindness and being a mom will let you do amazing things. Alicia loved the beach and putting her feet in the sand and looking at what beautiful things the world gives us every day. She made myself and my two boys see the same thing, as I was blessed with 33 amazing years that I spent with the most beautiful person on this earth. She was my angel that I and our two children will never forget. We love you always and I long to see your smile and to walk with you hand in hand on a beach for eternity. We will continue to walk in her memory until a cure is found.
This year, I joined the ONE Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am dedicated to Komen's ONE mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get ONE step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, Komen will be there for them.
In moments like this, your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by making a donation today?
