Abby's Story
At age nine, my biggest worries were supposed to be about chasing boys around on the playground or moving up a level during reading groups. Instead, I worried I was going to lose my mom before I even graduated elementary school.
Flash forward 10 years later after having just completed my freshman year of college and celebrating Mom's tenth year cancer free, it only seems fitting to come together once more to celebrate with the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk.
We walk because we are grateful she is still here. We walk to recognize the years of severe hormonal change from cancer treatment that disrupted my and my sister's upbringing for years on end. We walk because it is not only empowering for our family but for the entire population of individuals with BRCA 2 gene mutations. We walk because time has brought clarity — alongside family road trips, countless milestones reached, and infinite memories as a family.
Please consider making a donation or joining us to celebrate this ten-year milestone.
