So Grateful to Be Here!
Dear Wonderful Friends,
I have been so blessed by your support these past wonderful 18+ years as a survivor. 💃🌺 I’m also a 2 year + survivor of a second primary occurrence of breast cancer. It’s different from a recurrence in treatment and approach. ( So many things to learn on the BC journey, like getting a PhD in breast cancer & treatment. 🤓)
I had a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction ( with 6 surgeries ! ) Hope I had my last in July! It’s not for the faint of heart but I was so fortunate in my doctors & nurses! Despite the blessed lack of spread, I received 4 months of chemotherapy (one drug) weekly (during COVID!😷 ) Yikes! It was shorter and less extensive than my first time -6 mo of three chemo drugs -at least! It’s the gift that keeps on giving- especially with hair loss! I also had 6 months of Herceptin, my former year-long trial drug as well as oral hormone treatment again for at least 5 -10 years.
Things have come a long way in 18+ years. It’s wonderful to see the advances. When I had an allergic reaction to a previously well-received chemo, new advances had created a new chemo for those in my situation. That’s only one of so many changes & new treatments. I so appreciate all of your help over the years toward making these changes a reality.
I’m so grateful to be here to enjoy life and want everyone to have that experience! Thank you all so much! 💖🌺💐
Much love and gratitude to you all! Love, Kathryn
