Personally, I was never aware of these statistics and would not have imagined such high numbers. But in the spring of 2017, my sister Esther became one of these numbers as she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. This suddenly all became too real and impactful to all of us that love her. She's a wife, a mother, a daughter, an aunt, a cousin, a contributor to the local community and a loving friend to many. To me she is an amazing big sister: loving, caring, gentle, supportive and unselfish.

With her courage, hope and positive attitude - she went to battle. Fast forward to February 2018, when she completed her final chemotherapy treatment and celebrated by ringing the victory bell; declaring that she had won the battle against breast cancer! Having personally witnessed all of her hard work and how strongly she fought has inspired me and I'm very grateful in seeing her overcome this big challenge.

For the next two years, life for my sister continued with some sense of normalcy; no more chemo treatments and less visits to the Cancer Center; more time with her loved ones. But earlier this year, she was once again diagnosed with breast cancer; this time at a more aggressive level (stage four) striking five body parts (brain, spine, bones, etc.).

Shortly after receiving the diagnosis, things took a sudden turn for the worse and my sister began to feel gravely ill; resulting in the need for brain tumor surgery. Family and friends from near and far gathered in prayer and by the grace of GOD, the surgery was a success! The one thing about my sister is that she is a fighter and she does not give up easily! She is resilient and walks with her head held high. She is a superwoman: brave, strong, beautiful and powerful! I usually tell her If I didn't know you, I would not even know that you're going through breast cancer.

To my sister Esther, know that you are greatly loved by many and we all stand by your side! Your fight is our fight! We are all rooting for you during this battle!
> I'm joining the voice for millions of survivors and those impacted by Breast Cancer.

Now more than ever, I've become more passionate in joining Susan G. Komen in the fight towards A world without breast cancer!. Known as the leading breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen lives by one mission, Save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer. Thanks to the 360 degree fight on all fronts (awareness, research, and various support resources - breast cancer helpline, financial assistance, advocating for patient's rights); Susan G. Komen contributed to the 41% decline in breast cancer mortality (from 1989-2018)!

When learning more about great organizations like Susan G. Komen, I'm hopeful that one day Breast Cancer will be a thing of the past. I'm joining the voice for millions of survivors and those impacted by Breast Cancer. Supporting the fighters, admiring the survivors and honoring the taken and never, ever giving up Hope. Your fight is my fight. Breast Cancer will not win.

This year, I registered for the Komen Race for the Cure because I wanted to take action and be More Than Pink. I want to make an impact in the fight against breast cancer and need your help.
