My Journey with Breast Cancer started on January 22, 2016 when I found a lump, just 16 days after I had my annual appointment with my doctor and my annual mammogram results were normal. On February 5, 2016 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. After having the lump surgically removed along with the margin and lymphoid, all came back clear and my formal diagnosis was Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 1 Breast Cancer. I started 6 rounds of Chemotherapy on March 18, 2016 with the last round completed on July 1, 2016. I started my radiation treatment on August 22, 2016 and completed 36 rounds of radiation days before I closed on my new home in Hutto, TX. Each day of my journey presented new challenges and I tried to face them with a smile on my face.
The journey was not an easy one and without the support and encouragement of my friends and family I do not know how I could have done it.
I have registered with Susan G Komen More Than Pink Austin Walk because it is personal to me and I want to make an impact in the fight against Breast Cancer. I used to think that Cancer could not affect me, little did I know how deeply it could affect me.
