This year, I'm participating in the Susan G. Komen Georgia MORE THAN PINK Walk in memory of my aunt, Dr. Kathy Castilla. She lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer on January 7, 2020. Aunt Kathy truly was a beautiful person. She had an exceptional soprano voice, and I got goosebumps every time I heard her sing. I’ll never forget her soft, high-pitched voice when she would call me “Kee” – the only person to do so. On this page, I've posted one of my favorite pictures of her with her husband, my late Uncle Cortez.
Please join me in the fight against breast cancer by making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts. Black women in the U.S. are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer than Caucasian women. This is unacceptable.
Funds raised support breakthrough research and services for the women and men facing breast cancer today who need our help now, as much as ever. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, Komen will be there for them.
