What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
The loss of my mother connects me to Komen. She was diagnosed at the age of 57 and passed away 6 months after her diagnosis. She had a rare form of breast cancer and at that time we did not have the tools nor the advancements we have today. Over 25 years ago, in honor of my mother, I joined Velma Buffman and five other amazing women to motivate our community to start the IE Komen affilate and establish the first IE Race for the Cure. Together we were inspired to bring the Inland Empire into the Susan G. Komen family, to make sure everyone has access to breast health care.
Where might people get to see you with your wig on?
I will rock my out to dinner with friends, wear to a Chamber mixer, and at local events in the community.
What will be your competitive edge against the other BigWigs?
My passion for the cause. I have known too many friends and loved ones affected by this terrible disease. I am committed to the cause and making a difference in the lives of those facing breast cancer.
What is one fun fact about you?
I laugh at myself.
