What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
I was originally drawn to Susan G Komen by seeing the impact the organization was having and I knew I wanted to be involved. When the opportunity to become a policy ambassador came about, I knew I couldn't pass it up. Since joining the Advocacy Ambassador program through Susan G. Komen, I have realized we are just scratching the surface. There are so many women STILL without coverage for basic breast exams, secondary testing, or even something as simple as a prosthetic. The mission to END cancer of the breast doesn't just fall to those fighting, but to us who see the need and have the energy to fight. Susan G Komen and all those who work with Komen are helping to get the care to those who need it most. When I see the bills being passed in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, I know we are making an impact! Women and men facing a diagnosis or a preventative mastectomy will not have to worry about how they will pay for it and can focus on healing.
Where might people get to see you with your wig on?
Traveling the world! I am passionate about travel, meeting new people, and eating wonderful food! I also LOVE a good theme and will never turn down the opportunity to help inform about the mission of Komen or just be a listening ear to those fighting!
What will be your competitive edge against your competitors?
I have boundless energy and I don't stop until my head hits the pillow!
What is one fun fact about you?
I never back down from a dare which has led me to some amazing experiences! Skydiving over New Zealand, Kayaking the Tasman sea, camel treks in the open Quater, praying with monks in Bagan, and eating unknown items from street vendors in Thailand! If there is a bet to be made, I will take it and I usually end up with a great story! !
