What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
Upon my mother's diagnosis and treatment more than 10 years ago, several close friends and additional family members have been diagnosed. After volunteering for the Walk, the indiscriminate impact of this disease was evident. The gesture of volunteering felt meaningful, so I decided then to do more. As my volunteer experiences with Komen accumulated, my direct connection to many more survivors grew. I became aware of more friends, family, and co-workers affected just by seeing them at Komen events. These circumstances made my volunteering feel necessary, the SGK mission will be successful with people becoming and staying involved. If my small engagement benefits the goal I'm going to keep providing support in any way I can.
