What started as a fun neighborhood gathering brought on the idea of how and where to give back. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, a topic near and dear to our hearts, we decided to create this fundraiser to highlight the life of loved ones that lost the battle with cancer. Francois’s mother, Pierrette Peloquin, lost the battle 21 years ago.
She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister with a smile that couldn’t leave anyone indifferent but cancer took her away from her loved ones at the age of 51. At the age of 46, she was first diagnosed with breast cancer that was treated with chemotherapy as part of a research program designed around bone marrow transplant. She had 3 years of promising remission where during that time, she was able to again enjoy one of her passions, travelling. Unfortunately, cancer came back and attacked her brain. She fought through brain cancer for almost a year before passing away on November 10, 2002. To this day, she left her mark on so many people and in many circumstances, we keep talking about how she impacted us…obviously with a glass of wine and some hors d’oeuvres to make her smile again in the sky.
Last year we set a goal of $500 which was surpassed, raising $704 with your generous donations! We thank you all for your generosity in supporting the cause!
