DIY Friends and Clubs Fundraiser 2023

Georgia State Soccer

Welcome to Georgia State Soccer’s Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser Webpage!

Dear Friends and family,

We are delighted to have you here at our Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser webpage. Your presence on this digital platform signifies your commitment to making a positive impact in the fight against breast cancer. Together, we can amplify awareness, drive change, and support those affected by this challenging journey. We want to help Susan G. Komen save lives and end breast cancer forever. 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be impacted by breast cancer in their lifetime, which is why we’ve created a team to fundraise to support Komen’s vision of a world without breast cancer.

About every 2 minutes, one case of breast cancer is diagnosed in the U.S. and about every 46 seconds someone dies from breast cancer globally, making that about 1,876 women and men daily. Breast cancer is a global issue that affects millions of lives, and it's through collective action and compassionate hearts that we can make a difference.

Below you can find personal testimonies by individuals of GSU soccer and loved ones directly affected by breast cancer:

Eva Diez Louis- Captain and Senior on GSU Women’s Soccer Team

My mother and my aunt have gone through this disease and it is something I will never forget and it has made me change the way I look at my day to day life. Thanks to life, they are both still with me today but it was a hard and long journey that I would not recommend to anyone. This foundation is an incredible opportunity for all of us to contribute something that for us may mean very little but for these people it is huge. There are more and more methods and this disease is much easier to cure. With our help we can make the journey that many people have had to go through much easier.

Amy West- Mother of Gabby West, Junior on GSU Women’s Soccer Team

It made me realize life is short. To watch a loved one suffer through chemo and see their struggle from a once healthy person. It’s hard emotionally as a daughter. Every scan is scary, every check up is scary, hoping it won’t spread. She(Gabby’s Grandmother) was cancer free for 5 years then it metastasized everywhere. She died 2 years later. You realize everyday is a blessing and always tell your family how much they are loved.
