My family and I are fundraising to help support the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Did you know that 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be impacted by breast cancer in their lifetime? Well, this year I was that one in eight.
Back in May, I went in for my very first mammogram and they said they found something suspicious. Since I was 41 and had no family history of breast cancer, we thought the additional testing would come back benign. Unfortunately, we were wrong. I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Triple-Negative Breast Cancer.
Although I was initially devastated getting this news, many of my fears were assuaged after meeting with my team of doctors. They informed me that because it was detected early and the treatment for my specific cancer had greatly improved, my prognosis was actually really great.
It became evident to us through these meetings that we were the beneficiaries of decades of extensive funding and research around breast cancer.
In an effort to pay it forward, we are fundraising for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. As the world’s largest and most impactful breast cancer organization, it supports more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit outside the U.S. government, while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Please join us in this effort to support this organization!

And ladies...get those mammograms!!
