What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
After being diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer in April 2021, I've experienced the wide range of the aspects involved in fighting the illness. I have been blessed with a ton of support from family, friends, and strangers since that time, and resources like those offered through Susan G. Komen were instrumental in making me feel supported and cared for when I needed it most. I would like to help further the mission of research and providing direct support to those fighting breast cancer (including their families!).
Where might people get to see you with your wig on?
I plan on hosting an event or two around town, and plan on making a pop up appearance here and there to also raise awareness and funds. I'm thinking that a traveling ladies brunch could be a lot of fun and could raise some great money that could go toward my campaign, so I'm hoping to get that done too! My son plays lacrosse as well, so I'm sure I'll appear at a game wearing my wig as well to get some support from that amazing group of people.
What will be your competitive edge against the other BigWigs?
I don't mind looking silly and talking to strangers, so hopefully that will help. And I have a lot of incredible friends who are very supportive. Plus, social media is kind of my thing!
What is one fun fact about you?
I'm obsessed with dogs and anticipate you will see my beautiful golden retriever, Lucy, wearing her pink this month too!
