What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
When I was eight years old, my friend, Grace, told me that her mother had breast cancer. Grace's mom tragically died a few months later. When I attended her funeral, I saw that she left behind three very young kids, (even as young as two years old) and knew that I wanted to help in some way. I did some research, and found Susan G. Komen. I've been volunteering with Komen ever since I was eight. My mom also lost one of her best friends to breast cancer. I've watched multiple other women in my life battle breast cancer. Some of the survivors in my life wouldn't have been able to survive if it weren't for the research and progress Komen has made over the years. I've seen firsthand that the resources Komen provides to women with breast cancer saves lives.
