Jyoti Unmesh Limaye, born Swati Chintaman Kapdeo, was a beloved mother, wife, friend, and community member. She passed away on October 8, 2023, at 8:08pm in Naperville, Illinois. She was born in Nagda, India to Chintaman and Jayashree Kapdeo.
Jyoti attended Indore University and graduated in 1991 with an Masters in English Literature. Her interests included Shakespeare plays, Hindi poetry, and the Indian Classical Dance of Kathak.
She began her fight against breast cancer when she was originally diagnosed in 2017, and she continued her battle when she was re-diagnosed in 2020.
Jyoti was a loving and caring person who always found the positives in every situation. She volunteered extensively at Hesed House and with the SEWA organization, and her work improved the lives of many. She dedicated her life to her spirituality and religious practice. Her optimism and altruism were ever-present in her life and continue through her family.
Although she will be deeply missed by all those who knew her, her legacy will live on in the lives that she saves as an organ donor.
She married Unmesh Limaye in 1992 after which they both resided in Mumbai, and then the U.S. for the last 26 years.
She is remembered by her husband, Unmesh Limaye and her two children, Riddhi Limaye, 23, and Mihir Limaye, 19, along with her loving family and friends. She is also survived by her siblings Alka Vairagkar, Shashank Kapdeo, and Pankaj Kapdeo.
