Mammograms & Marathons -- Help Mo run NYC and raise awareness
In January 2026, I completed 16 rounds of radiation for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), a stage zero, non-invasive breast cancer that was caught very early thanks to a mammogram. The day I finished radiation, I immediately laced up my running shoes and went for a run. That run was a celebration and a milestone -- I was okay. And I thought and thought during that run about how lucky I was that this cancer was caught, how it could have turned aggressive, and how so many cancers are missed.
So now, I am headed back to NYC, where I ran my first ever marathon, to run my first marathon since I beat DCIS. And I am honored I get to run the NYC Marathon in 2026 for Susan G. Komen. 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be impacted by breast cancer in their lifetime. As the world’s largest and most impactful breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen supports more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit outside the U.S. government, while providing real-time help to those facing the disease.
Help me raise awareness and raise money for this awesome organization. And get your mammograms!
