Shannon’s Journey: Survivor to Advocate
Running the New York Marathon with the Susan G. Komen Foundation is more than just a race for me—it’s a purpose
As a breast cancer survivor, I feel called to do more. To advocate. To remind women how powerful early detection is—mammograms and regular checkups truly save lives.
If sharing my story helps even one person, it’s worth it.
I don’t take a single step for granted. To be here, healthy, strong, and able to run 26.2 miles—I am incredibly blessed.
There’s something powerful about being surrounded by other survivors—each with their own story, their own strength, finding joy despite it all.
Raising money to support others in this fight… that’s priceless.
As the world’s largest and most impactful breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen supports more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit outside the U.S. government, while providing real-time help to those facing the disease.
