26.2 Miles for the Women Who Taught Me Resilience
If you’re surprised to see me training for a marathon, trust me... I am too.
If you know me, you know that "marathoner" hasn’t exactly been part of my identity. But over the last few years, my perspective on what it means to be "tough" changed completely. I watched both my maternal and paternal grandmothers receive breast cancer diagnoses. From across the country, I watched them face multiple surgeries, rounds of treatment, and the physical toll of this disease.
Watching from afar broke my heart, but seeing them handle every hurdle with such bravery, grace, and unshakable resilience inspired me.
Why Susan G. Komen?
I’ve decided to push my own limits by running the 2026 New York City Marathon with Team Komen. I want to turn my admiration for my grandmothers into action. Every dollar raised goes toward:
Research to find breakthroughs in treatment.
Patient support for those currently in the thick of the fight.
Awareness to ensure early detection for others.
The Road to November
I have 7 months of training ahead of me. That’s hundreds of miles, a lot of early mornings, and a complete transformation of what I thought I was capable of. I’m running for the two women who showed me that we are stronger than we think, and I’m running so that one day, other families don't have to watch their loved ones go through this.
Will you help me reach my goal?
Whether it’s $26.20 ($1 per mile!) or any amount you can spare, your donation means the world to me and the millions of families impacted by breast cancer.
Thank you for supporting me and more importantly, for honoring the resilience of my grandmothers. Let’s do this!
