I try to approach life with resilience, optimism, and the belief that challenges are meant to be faced head on. I was raised on the East Coast, shaped by many wonderful years in the Bay Area, and today I’m proud to call San Diego home. Professionally, I work in business development, but my greatest roles are being a wife to Scott for 24 amazing years and a mom to our two college students, Dylan and Owen.
In 2006, my life changed when I was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer. I made the decision early on to take an active role in my care, partnering with patient advocates and incredible oncologists across the country to create a treatment plan that felt right for me. That journey included a double mastectomy, participation in a two-year clinical trial, and ten years of hormone therapy through UCSF and UCSD.
Today, I’m grateful to be a breast cancer thriver. My experience has inspired me to give back as a board member and volunteer with San Diego’s Susan G. Komen chapter, where I’m passionate about educating, supporting, and uplifting others navigating their own diagnoses.
Being invited to throw the honorary first pitch at the San Diego Padres Mother’s Day game is deeply meaningful to me—not only as a survivor, but as a mom. Mother’s Day reminds me how fortunate I am to still be here celebrating life’s milestones with my family and community. Standing on that field represents more than my story; it honors every mother, survivor, thriver, caregiver, and loved one affected by breast cancer. I’m incredibly grateful to share this moment with all of you who have supported me along the way.
