We Are Warriors: In October We Wear Pink

We're sorry. You must have JavaScript enabled and version 9.0.0 or higher of the Flash player installed to view this video.

In February 2024, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. What followed was a long and difficult road: eight rounds of chemotherapy, two surgeries—including a lumpectomy and the removal of 30 lymph nodes—30 rounds of radiation, and another surgery a year later to remove my ovaries.

I am incredibly grateful to be here, but I was surprised to discover that the effects of cancer treatment did not disappear when active treatment ended. I am still rebuilding my strength, learning how my body and even my brain work now, and figuring out what life looks like after breast cancer.

This journey has taught me that small victories matter. Support matters. Unexpected kindness matters. “Wearing pink” now represents real people, frightening days, difficult recoveries, and the hope that carries us forward.

I originally created my “In October We Wear Pink” T-shirt because I wanted to express my own connection to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I incorporated a nature-inspired design featuring red clover as a small nod to my Vermont heritage. But after watching several friends face breast cancer too, I realized this campaign was not only about me. This shirt could help raise awareness, support an important cause, and perhaps help someone else feel less alone.

In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Olsen Colorcraft Co. is offering the “In October We Wear Pink” T-shirt. A donation will be made to Susan G. Komen to honor breast cancer survivors, those currently facing the disease, and the people we have lost.

We are warriors—and in October, we wear pink.

If you are able, please join me in honoring everyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. You can support this campaign by clicking the Donate Now button or by sharing this page with others. Every gift, every share, and every act of support helps carry hope forward.
