My goal is simple: to help others.
In March 2024, I was diagnosed with Stage I Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Within just one month, my diagnosis progressed to Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer, with metastases to my spine. The news was devastating. As a part-time fitness instructor and someone who worked full-time?often 60 hours a week?I had built my life around movement, strength, and resilience. Suddenly, I didn?t know what my future would look like.
The pain became overwhelming, and I was no longer a candidate for surgery. With the guidance and support of my trusted oncology team, I began an aggressive course of radiation for my spine. In May 2024, I underwent five rounds. The treatment was intense?at times the pain worsened before it improved?but by mid-June, I began to feel a shift. Slowly, I started to feel more like myself again.
Cancer is a constant presence. It whispers fear, but also calls forth hope. In July 2024, I returned to teaching and working. I haven?t stopped since.
I?ve had the honor of speaking for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, sharing my story in hopes of inspiring others. I truly believe that cancer does not define who we are?we define what it means to live with cancer. My mission is to be that reminder for anyone who needs it.
