A note from Jill,
Two years ago, in September 2022, I received news that changed my life: a breast cancer diagnosis discovered during a routine mammogram. I felt healthy and strong, and like so many women, I never expected those words. What followed was nearly a year of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Today, I am deeply grateful to be able to say there is no evidence of cancer in my body.
I could not have made it through without my family, friends, and the incredible support of our DAC community. That experience has given me a powerful desire to encourage others to take action: perform regular self-exams, schedule mammograms, and never take your health for granted. It truly can make all the difference.
This year, our hearts are especially tender as we remember our dear friend and dance mom, Stephanie Luoma. As a dance mom she was the biggest cheerleader and a bright light in our community. After a long and courageous battle, we lost her in September. In her honor, and for every woman and family touched by this disease, I invite you to join me in making this year's Breast Cancer Awareness event even more impactful.
Breast cancer has touched so many lives, including mine. Together, we can honor survivors, remember those we've lost, and lift up the women who are still in the fight. I hope you'll join us in coming together as a community - because together, we can truly make a difference.
