The Wilton Wahoos, a youth swim team, initially started fundraising for Susan G. Komen 7 years ago by selling swim caps and t-shirts in memory of their coach’s mother. However, fundraising for breast cancer is no longer just a cause they support — it is an integral part of their team culture.
George decided to run 39 miles and raise $3,900 in celebration of his mother’s 39 years of life. By doing just a few shares on social media and at work, George was able to meet his goal — and then some!
In 2020, instructors at CJFC were committed to hosting their 10th annual event despite pandemic restrictions. They held the jazzercise-athon outdoors at the football field, with pink balloons six feet apart to mark where participants should stand. Even though it was freezing, people still showed up jackets and all and gave generously.
